Two business additions approved by Shipshe Council

The Shipshewana Town Council gave positive recommendations to two business additions at their Thursday meeting.

The Garden Gate Café on Morton St. is looking to add a 24x24 addition to the south side of the building for a kitchen area and a restroom.

Yoder’s Department Store is planning to add a new entrance on the south end of the building, located on SR 5. The entrance will have double sliding doors and will match the entrance recently constructed on the west side of the building.

The council approved the slate of officers for the Shipshewana Fire Department. The officers will be announced following the department’s voting.

The council approved landscaping in a cul de sac in the Berkshire Estates, as long as it meets the engineering requirements.

The town announced that leaf pickup will run from Monday, Oct. 15, until Monday, Nov. 19. Pickup will be on Mondays and Thursdays during this time.
