Led by medalist Joseph Trost, the Lakeland boys cross country team placed second overall at the Caston Invitational meet held this past Saturday.
Trost ran a personal-best time of 16:36 to win individual honors over Andrew Timmons of South Bend Adams (16:37). Finishing third was Trost’s teammate Eric Herber, who also ran a personal-best clocking of 16:46.
Adams took home the team championship with a score of 71. Lakeland was second with 92 and Logansport third with 98.
Rounding out the Laker lineup were Mitch Herber (10th in 17:50), Kyle Burchett (34th in 18:59), Andrew Duzan (46th in 19:23), Mishael Theis (57th in 19:52) and Garett Chrisman (64th in 20:13). The times of Herber and Burchett were personal bests.
Two runners from Lakeland took part in the girls race. Massie Maskow finished 20th overall in 22:37 and Ashlynn Maskow took 22nd in 22:42.
Corey Collins and Peter Thompson competed in the JV boys race for the Lakers. Collins finished sixth in 20:00 and Thompson 10th in 20:35.
