Traffic stops leads to drug discovery

 

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on March 25, an officer from the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department stopped at vehicle on Detroit St. at North St. for an equipment violation.

    During the traffic stop, assistance was requested from the LaGrange Police Department K-9 officer. According to the police report, after the K-9 performed a sniff of the vehicle, the dog alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. Officers then searched the vehicle and located a small amount of marijuana.

    Tejay Newsome, 20, of South St. was arrested for Possession of Marijuana with Prior Conviction and Maintaining a Common Nuisance, both felonies.

    The driver of the vehicle was released from the scene. A report will be filed and reviewed for possible charges against the driver.
