Traffic stop yields mobile meth lab

The LaGrange Police Department reported that a traffic stop on Feb. 24 ended in the arrest of a Wolcottville man on manufacturing methamphetamine and additional charges.

According to the department, a LaGrange officer stopped a Chevy S-10 pickup driven by Christopher N. Meyers, 28, of Wolcottville at the intersection of Lake and Detroit streets in LaGrange Sunday evening for a traffic violation. During the stop, the officer noticed a strong chemical odor coming from the cab of the truck. The officer located several precursors and a one-pot meth lab inside the truck.

The Indiana State Police Lab Team and the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.

Meyers is being held in the LaGrange County Jail on preliminary charges of Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possession of Two or more Precursors, Possession of Controlled Substance, and Maintaining a Common Nuisance. He was also cited for driving while suspended and possession of paraphernalia.
