Traffic stop turns into drug investigation

Shortly before 9 p.m. on April 9, an officer from the LaGrange Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a 1994 Toyota passenger vehicle.

    According to the police report, the traffic stop turned into a drug investigation when occupants allegedly gave signs of drug activity. During investigation, the officer allegedly located drug paraphernalia along with methamphetamine and a package of synthetic drugs.

    The driver of the vehicle, Robby D. Cottrell, 24, of Avilla, Ind., was arrested on preliminary charges of driving while suspended prior, possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of a synthetic drug.

    A passenger in the vehicle, Santana A. Collingsworth, 18, also of Avilla, Ind., was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of precursors.
