Topeka Softball League results


Cedar Creek solidified its hold on the Upper Division lead in the Topeka Men’s Softball League with a twin-bill sweep of ConCreations.

Cedar Creek took the opener by a count of 12-10 and the nightcap by the score of 16-0 to raise its second-half record to 8-0, three full games ahead of ConCreations, which dropped to 5-3.

Middle Division pacesetters Timber Ridge Golf Course and D & R Miller Concrete split a doubleheader, leaving Timber Ridge (9-3) a game in front of D & R Miller (8-4). Timber Ridge captured the first game, 14-10 and D & R Miller netted the closer, 21-8.

Sandy Ridge Stables fell back into a tie for first place in the Lower Division II standings due to a split with Streamside Woodshop. Sandy Ridge was a 6-5 winner in the opener and a 7-6 loser in the nightcap, bringing its record to 7-3, identical with the mark of Champion Well Drilling.

Four teams joined Cedar Creek in earning doubleheader sweeps last week. Lord’s Seeds handed Good Time Clock and Watch Repair defeats of 17-1 and 14-12, Jamar Slabach handled Connections/MJ Acers by counts of 19-5 and 17-10, AllPro Gas/Synergy tipped up CCAC by scores of 12-3 and 22-21, and Valleyview Blacksmith twice shaded Slabach Logging, 18-14 and 14-13.

The final two twin-bills last week finished in splits. Mike’s Automotive took the first game over the Outsiders, 9-3 and lost the second, 7-6. Lavon Yoder trimmed the Silverbacks, 6-4 in their opener, while the Silverbacks rebounded to win the closer, 6-3.

Jami Gamble grabbed a one-game lead in the Topeka Women’s Softball League standings this past week with victories of 19-5 over RV Transport and 13-12 over Cherokee.

The two wins lifted Jami Gamble to a record of 9-5. Mary Jo Martin, which entered the week tied for first place, fell a game off the pace thanks to a loss to Cedar Creek, 8-4. Mary Jo Martin won its other game of the week over the Milk Haulers, 10-6.

In addition to its win over Mary Jo Martin, Cedar Creek topped Auto Park, 9-6 to reach the mark of 8-6 and tie Mary Jo Martin for second position in the standings.

Other winners last week were the Milk Haulers (10-8 over Auto Park and Cherokee (9-8 over RV Transport).
