Topeka gets new town manager

Sandy Saggars has been familiar with the town of topeka and has always appreciated the town. She was keeping an eye open for a new job when a friend told her about the Topeka Town Manager position. It seemed like a good fit.

Saggars started working as the town manager Monday, leaving Goshen College where she had been an assistant controller for four years.

“I’m still working with financial issues, but with the public, too,” she said of her new position. She said she is already enjoying the atmosphere of the town.

She is looking forward to working in the town and keeping the town’s character, as well. “I can be a part of changes that citizens and the board want to implement. It’s a team effort,” she stated. One area she sees the position focusing on is keeping the town’s industrial park active. “We want to keep the business buildings full,” she said.

Saggars has a background in industry, having worked for Millennium Industries prior to going to Goshen College. “I’m familiar with what the town can offer those businesses and how we can work together,” she added.
