Tobias Hochstetler

Tobias C. “Toby” Hochstetler, 41, rural Manton, Mich., drowned Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Meauwataka Lake in Wexford County, Mich.

    He was born July 4, 1972, in LaGrange, to Clarence and Ada (Miller) Hochstetler.

    He was a member of the O.O. Amish Church in Manton, Mich., and was ordained as a minister on May 15, 2011.

    He was married September 12, 1997 to Carol Gingerich. She survives.

    Also surviving are eight children, Joseph Wayne, Sharon Rose, Emily Grace, Daniel James, Sara Beth, Kathy Joy, Paul Mark and Isaiah, all at home; his mother, Ada Hochstetler, Holland, Mich.; eight brothers, Ura (Barbara) Hochstetler, Holland, Mich., Elmer (Esther) Hochstetler, LaGrange, Daniel (Leona) Hochstetler, Ligonier, Ind., Alva (Elnora) Hochstetler, Tustin, Mich., Manass (Wilma) Hochstetler, Middlebury, David (Mary) Hochstetler, LaGrange, Mervin Hochstetler, Holland, Mich., and Wilbur (Joann) Hochstetler, Evart, Mich.; three sisters, Lorine Gingerich, Bellville, Ohio, Elsie (Monroe) Miller, McBain, Mich., and Clara Hochstetler, Holland, Mich.; his in-laws, Alfred and Martha Gingerich, Manton, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Hochstetler, and a brother-in-law, David Gingerich.

    Funeral services were held Saturday, July 27, at the Amish Meeting House in Manton, Mich., with Bishop John Allgyer officiating.

    Burial is in the Amish Cemetery, Manton, Mich.
