Three people were killed in an accident on US 20 near CR 1200W Friday afternoon.
According to the police report, a vehicle driven by Dwayne Davis, 21, of Parker City, Ind., was eastbound on US 20 west of CR 1200W when it attempted to pass another vehicle and collided nearly head-on with a pickup traveling west on US 20.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene along with two passengers in his vehicle, Frederick Petro, 19, of Muncie, Ind., who was in the front passenger seat, and Christopher Whiteman, 26, also of Muncie, Ind., who was in the back seat.
The driver of the pickup, Andrew Nutbrown, 43, of Quebec, Canada, was taken to Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne for pain to his torso.
US 20 was closed for 3½ hours until the accident could be cleaned up.
The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department received assistance from the LaGrange County Coroner’s Office, Muncie Police Department, Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, Elkhart Police Department, and Wayne County Sheriff’s Department with identification and notifications.
