The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department reported that April 17 Jared Wingard, 17, was traveling east bound on CR 350 S.
Wingard lost control of his vehicle and ran off the north side of the road. Wingard then proceeded to overcorrected and ran off the south side of the road, the department reported. The vehicle traveled through a fence where a pole pierced the driver-side rear door. Wingard’s vehicle continued in a southeast direction and came to rest after colliding with another fence.
Lynette Mullet, 19, was airlifted to Parkview in Fort Wayne for severe lacerations. Verlin D. Hershberger, 19, was airlifted to Parkview as well for bruises to the face and chest, and possible internal injuries. Eric J. Troyer, 17, was taken to Parkview LaGrange with a possible broken left arm, abrasions to the left upper arm and shoulder, and swelling around the left side of his forehead.
Charges are being filed on the driver and passengers. Three other passengers signed off after being checked.
