Shortly before 11 p.m. on February 9, a deputy from the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department noticed a suspicious Chevy S-10 pickup in the parking lot of the Mongo United Methodist Church on SR 3. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Ethan A. Boyer, 19, of Hudson, Ind.
According to the police report, the deputy noticed a case of beer lying on the floor of the truck. The deputy asked Boyer his age, and Boyer reportedly told the deputy that he was 19.
The deputy asked Boyer if there was anything else in the truck he needed to be aware of, and Boyer reportedly told the deputy that he also had marijuana and paraphernalia in the truck.
Boyer was detained by the deputy while additional officers searched the truck. According to the department, deputies found marijuana, a glass pipe smoking device, and prescription pills that Boyer did not have a prescription for.
Boyer was arrested and taken to the LaGrange County Jail on preliminary charges of Possession of Marijuana, a Class A Misdemeanor, Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class D Felony, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a Class D Felony, and Minor in Possession of Alcohol, a Class C Misdemeanor. He was also issued an infraction ticket for possession of paraphernalia.
