The monthly public board meeting for the LaGrange County Soil and Water Conservation District will be held this coming Tuesday, February 25, 2014. The public meeting will begin at 6:00 pm, preceded by an executive session at 5:45 pm. For February, the location of the meeting will be at the USDA Service Center in LaGrange at 910 S. Detroit Street. This change of location due to the current propane shortage.
Agenda items for February will include SWCD, NRCS, grant staff and Purdue CES activity reports; grant program updates; District Annual Meeting and Annual Report plans, a Tree Sales Program update; and input by LaGrange County Commissioners, LaGrange County Council, Indiana State Department of Agriculture, and conservation partner Pheasants Forever.
New business to be entertained will be the presentation of Conservation Plans; an farm bill update by District Conservationist Kevin Shide; a report of the recent Northern Indiana Grazing Conference and District involvement with local science fairs and school activities.
The LaGrange County SWCD provides leadership, technical assistance and educational programs and materials concerning the wise use and stewardship of soil, water and related natural resources to LaGrange County landowners.
