The LaGrange County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is accepting bids on a project to remove logjams from the Pigeon River.
This project is being funded by a Lake and River Enhancement (LARE) grant from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Fish and Wildlife. Other significant conservation partners include the LaGrange County Commissioners, the LaGrange County SWCD, the Indiana State Soil Conservation Board, the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, and private businesses in the Mongo area.
Logjam removal will need to take place from July 1 through September 30. The site of activity will take place on the Pigeon River (main branch) from CR 1100E west to CR 390E, with the bulk of the work to be done in this section west of CR 900E.
A pre-bid meeting will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 16, in the conference room of the Pigeon River Fish and Wildlife Area headquarters located at 8310E 300N in Mongo.
This is a public meeting and anyone, but especially contractors interested in bidding on the project, is invited and encouraged to attend. Sealed bids will be accepted at the LaGrange County SWCD office until noon on Monday, June 23. Bids will be opened at 1 p.m. on June 23 in the USDA Service Center at 910 S. Detroit St. in LaGrange.
Anyone interested in being present at the opening of the bids is invited to do so. The lowest reasonable qualified bid will be recommended for acceptance by the board of supervisors for the LaGrange County SWCD. The board reserves the right to reject any or all bids. The board will make the final decision regarding the acceptance of a bid on this project at their regular monthly public board meeting to be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, at ParGil Natural Resources Learning Center, 2335 North SR 9 in LaGrange.
