Thursday, July 31, was an action-packed evening in Shipshewana. More than 80 people attended the Shipshewana Branch Library's Summer Science Labs program, the Shipshewana finale to the LaGrange County Public Library's Summer Reading Program.
The Wolfe Building was filled with children and adults testing circuits, making exploding fruit-flavored drinks, designing binary code bracelets, being enveloped in giant bubbles, and more. The Shipshewana Police Department demonstrated the dangers of drinking and driving with "drunk goggles," while the Shipshewana Fire Department performed some amazing experiments with a candle and balloons.
Meteorologist Cindi Clawson kicked off the event by teaching the crowd a little about weather. She demonstrated how to create a cloud in a bottle and used hot water, cold water and food coloring to demonstrate the properties of hot and cold air.
Carson Yoder, 5, won a bike at the event.
