Students will have opportunity to learn about nomination process
Congressman Marlin Stutzman (IN-03) will host Military Academy Day from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 28, at the Air National Guard Base in Ft. Wayne. Sign in/registration will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m. The base is located at 3005 Ferguson Rd. in Ft. Wayne. Attendees may enter the base via the security entrance just east of the airport.
Students interested in learning about the process and prerequisites for applying for nominations to the Air Force, Merchant Marine, West Point, Naval, and Coast Guard academies are welcome to attend. Presentations on the process and the different academies will be followed by a question and answer period. Parents, teachers, and guidance counselors are encouraged to attend as well.
Candidates for admission must be U.S. citizens, have secured a nomination from a nominating authority (with the exception of the Coast Guard), be unmarried, and have no legal obligation to support children or other dependents. They may not have turned 23 years of age by July 1 of the year they enter the academy.
In applying for a nomination from Congressman Stutzman, candidates must be residents of Indiana’s 3rd Congressional District and submit an application packet that includes their completed application form with a recent photo, three letters of recommendation, SAT or ACT scores, an official copy of their high school transcript, and an essay.
