Relive the sights, sounds and smells of days gone by Saturday during the 9th Annual Old Fashion Farming Day. The event is being held on the Mervin Yoder Farm at 6450W 275N, northeast of Shipshewana, and runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
There will be a special preview Friday afternoon and evening, starting after 2 p.m. with a miniature pony pull and supper. All the old equipment will be on display.
During the day on Saturday, visitors will have a chance to step back in time to see the machines and farming activities from a previous era of farming. There will be a horse and dog on a treadmill, a John Deere Hay Press, an original 1845 McCormick Reaper and more demonstrated on Saturday.
Other activities include corn shredding, hay cutting, sawmill demonstrations, hay wagon rides and more. Kid’s activities include all-day barrel train rides, corn shelling by hand, kids vs. tractor tug of war and a corn cob shootout.
This will be a fun-filled day for all ages to experience the work and fun of farming from an era gone by.
