State guidelines assist child care providers

Indiana State guidelines can assist a child care business and providers to be in compliance with any requirements whether it is a new child care program or expansion of an existing program. Orientation sessions are conducted monthly free of charge throughout Northeast Indiana by Early Childhood Alliance. Registration is required.

“Orientation I: Start-Up Workshop for Homes, Centers and Ministries” will be held from 1-3 p.m. on March 7 at the LaGrange County Public Library. There is a limit of 15 for the workshop.

Indianarequires that most types of child care programs(except child care ministries or home child care programs that care for no more than five unrelated children) obtain a state license. Early Childhood Alliance can help child care providers learn about these requirements through a three-step process.

1. Call Early Childhood Alliance for an information packet, “Basic Introduction to Child Care.

2. Register with Early Childhood Alliance to attend “Orientation I: Start-Up Workshop for Homes, Centers and Ministries,” a two-hour session on health, safety and start-up requirements. (This training is strongly encouraged, but not required for ministries.)

3. Upon completion of “Orientation I: Start-Up Workshop for Homes, Centers and Ministries,” participants will receive information about the next orientation session.

To learn more, or to check dates of future sessions, call Early Childhood Alliance at 745-2501 or 1-800-423-1498.
