The county office building and courthouse will be closed Monday, Nov. 12, in observance of Veterans Day.
The regular Monday meeting of the LaGrange County Council will be held Tuesday, Nov. 13, with a full agenda starting at 8:30 a.m.
Sheriff Terry Martin is scheduled to make a presentation to the council regarding the sheriff’s fixed benefit pension fund. The county funds this annually at a variable rate. The cost for 2012 was some $271,515 and came from the Rainy Day Fund. The cost for 2013 will be determined after the first of the year, depending on the amount of money in the fund at that time.
Jennifer Bricker-McBride, newly elected county recorder, is scheduled to talk with the council members regarding a chief deputy.
In addition, there will be reports from the county commissioners, committee reports, transfers of funds, additional appropriation requests, and a salary ordinance amendment.
Commissioners have scheduled a short meeting immediately after the council meeting to appoint a director of maintenance for the county office building and courthouse.
A joint meeting of the council and commissioners will then be held to discuss the Town of LaGrange/SR 9 sewer project and the CR 200N road project. Both items require Major Moves funding. A positive recommendation from the Major Moves subcommittee and a super majority (eight) of the 10 members of the joint council and commissioners board is required for passage. Two of the affirmative votes must be from county commissioners.
Keith Gillenwater will make a presentation on a shell building for the Fawn River Industrial Park. The proposed 75,000 sq. ft. building will have 32 ft. eaves, be clear-span, and be built with pre-cast concrete. The building will be built to accommodate expansion.
