Slam Dunk for Scholarships event

In an effort to raise money as well as awareness of LaGrange County REMC’s scholarship program, three local organizations participated in a basketball event last Friday at Lakeland High School.

LaGrange County REMC (known as the Storm Troopers), LaGrange County Law Enforcement (known as the Law Dawgs) and the Lakeland FFA all took part in the event by playing one another in a round robin style event. Coming out on top was the REMC with a 2-0 record.

But more importantly, the event was a fun community event for a good cause. All the proceeds go toward the scholarship fund. LaGrange County REMC will award three $1,000 scholarships to local seniors whose parents or guardians receive electric service from the REMC.

Scholarship applications are being accepted until Monday, April 7, 2014. They can be picked up at the REMC office, 1995 East US 20 in LaGrange or download from the website at lagrangeremc.com
