Shipshewana starts search for new town manager

The Town of Shipshewana is starting the search for a new town manager this week following the sudden resignation of Sheryl Kelly just prior to Thursday’s town council meeting.

Town Attorney Kurt Bachman said that Kelly resigned to “pursue other employment.” He described the departure as “very amicable” and added that Kelly has said she will work with the town to make the transition as smooth as possible. “She is willing to work with the town as they search for a new town manager,” Bachman stated.

The town will be working later this week on formulating a strategy to pursue a new town manager, Bachman said.

The council authorized Council President Roger Yoder to work with Kelly on a severance agreement.

Kelly was hired in November 2010, replacing Mike Puro at that time.
