Shipshewana no parking ordinance gets amendments

Following up on action taken at the last Shipshewana Town Council meeting, the town is moving ahead with an amended no parking ordinance.

The ordinance being considered will have no parking on the north and south sides of Berkshire Drive starting at SR 5 and ending 600 ft. east.

The ordinance will also limit parking in front of the post office on Main Street. Parking will be restricted to parallel parking on the south side of the street, in an easterly direction and limited to five minutes.

The ordinance also increases the penalty for parking violations from $5 per violation to $50.

At this time, the proposed no parking on State Street north of Middlebury Street is not included in the ordinance and is being reviewed.
