Shipshewana looking at welcome signs

The Town of Shipshewana is working with the Shipshewana Retail Merchants Association (SRMA) to get welcome signs installed.

Town Manager Mike Sutter told the town council that the SRMA is offering to pay for the design and installation of the signs, with the town handling the long-term maintenance and electrical costs.

The council approved a motion authorizing Sutter to work with the SRMA on an agreement.

The board approved an increase of $3,000 from the town to the LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation over the previous amount of $6,563. The increase request came after the town had set its estimated budget, using the amount from previous years. The extra money will come out of the town’s EDIT funds.
