Shipshewana Light Parade kicks off holiday schedule


The 2012 Shipshewana Light Parade will begin at dusk (approximately 6 p.m.) on Saturday, November 10. The parade will wander through downtown Shipshewana and end in front of the Blue Gate Restaurant. 

Along with the traditional tree lighting, there will be Christmas carols and a live Nativity Scene.

Last year over 4,000 guests lined the streets to witness this gala event. The spectacular floats, carolers, wagons and horses marched through town to the wonderment of all.


November 17- Chocolate Day purchase your one of a kind chocolate box at Aunt Millie's Candy & Nuts on the 3rd floor of the Davis Mercantile for just $15. Then stroll around the 20 different stores to fill your box full of decadent candies. All inclusive.  For details call 260-768-7728.

November 23 - December 31 -Ginger Bread Houses now on display at Yoder's Shipshewana Hardware.  Bring your family and enjoy the gingerbread creations.  Vote for your favorite! 

November 27 -Wana Night Out from 2-8PM watch for advertisements in the LaGrange Standard and Hometown Treasurer. Individual store hours may vary.

November 10 -December 31 - Shipshewana Shimmer Walk - Each merchant will display a decorated Christmas tree of their choice and size, you will have an opportunity to vote for your favorite!

December 8 - Kid's Day - Passport to Fun! 10:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. Kids pick up their free Passports and itinerary at The Davis Mercantile and travel to locations throughout Shipshewana for a day of fun activities and surprises! December 27-29 - Shipshewana Ice Festival - The Ice Festival kicks off on Dec 27th with teams of carvers creating themed sculptures from 10 am-8 pm at businesses throughout town.  The Ice Festival Queen Contest will be held December 27th, 6pm at the Davis Mercantile.

December 28 -The carvers will create their own sculptures at a carving contest at the Davis Mercantile starting at 10 am.

December 29 - Downtown Shipshewana - The Davis Mercantile parking lot is the location for the Chili Cook-off. Visitors can purchase a collector's pin, designed each year by a Westview High School student, which entitles the holder to FREE admission to the Chili Cook-off and discounts throughout town for the entire month of January 2013.
