The Shipshewana Town Council voted to award the contract for work at the town’s wastewater treatment plant to Robert E. Crosby, Inc., of Ft. Wayne.
The project is for a new flow control pit at the plant. The firm had the low bid of $114,750. The engineering estimate for the project was $124,805.
The board also voted to have service done to the town’s #2 well pump, including a rebuild, for $6,979.
The council also heard that based on a review of the town’s utility rates, no increase to the rates was recommended.
The board accepted the high bid of $625 for the sale of an S-10 pickup truck.
The council heard that blockage of a drainage tile near the Berkshire Estates had been found and work was done to help drain the area. The town had already pumped 17 million gallons of water for the area. The water, which ranged from six inches to five feet deep in places, was expected to take four to six days to fully drain.
