ShipshewanaUnited Methodist Churchcelebrated its 175th anniversary on Oct. 14. The small church increased in attendance that day to 72 members and visitors, small by some standards, but very pleasing by the church’s.
After the welcoming of members and visitors, a brief reading of the church’s history was presented. Following that was recordings of past ministers reminiscing on what stood out in their memory while they served as minister of Shipshewana United Methodist Church.
Following that was a recording from the assistant district superintendent offering praises and congratulations to the church for its 175th anniversary. Church members also combined together to form a choir with a director, accompanied by an organist, to sing some hymns that were popular back in the early 1800s.
At the conclusion of the service, a potluck and hog roast was held in the fellowship hall.
