A LaGrange County Sheriff’s car was struck when another car lost control while approaching an accident scene Thursday morning.
According to the department, Reserve Deputy Zachary Anderson was working a traffic accident on CR 700S shortly after 8:30 a.m. Thursday with emergency lights activated on his police vehicle. A westbound car driven by Shannon Thornburg, 18, of Wolcottville reportedly lost control on the ice-covered road and her vehicle rotated and slid backward, striking a second vehicle driven by Warren Patrick, 47, of Ligonier, which had been traveling eastbound on CR 700S.
Thornburg’s vehicle rotated again, the report noted, before striking the deputy’s vehicle in the back bumper and sliding off on the north side of the road.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
