Shelter gets new dog beds

Animal Welfare Association, Inc. (AWA) has put beds for the dogs in the LaGrange County Animal Shelter thanks to a contact at a HSUS Conference

AWA President Debbie Bontrager requested dog beds from a friend she met at one of the HSUS conferences. When the Founder of Animal Rescue Aid in Georgia e-mailed that they were in the running for a Pepsi Refresh Grant to put 665 beds into animal shelters, Bontrager e-mailed back and requested beds for the LaGrange County Shelter. Animal lovers across the U.S. voted in the Pepsi Refresh Grant contest and Animal Rescue Aid was one of the recipients.

Fifteen of the beds were assembled and taken to the LaGrange County Animal Shelter so some of the dogs won’t have to sleep on cement. AWA will also be taking some beds to Kendallville for the Noble County Shelter.

Residents are reminded that on the second Thursday of each month AWA has a transport coming from the H.O.P.E. for Animals Clinic in Ft. Wayne. Call to get a spot for low cost spaying or neutering.
