Family medicine physician Rhonda Sharp, M.D. of Parkview Physicians Group-Sharp Medical was elected assistant treasurer of the Indiana State Medical Association (ISMA) for a one-year term. Last year, Dr. Sharp served as chair of the ISMA Board of Trustees, which she first joined in 2005. The ISMA is divided into 13 Indiana districts and physician representatives from each district comprise the organization’s board of trustees.
Dr. Sharp took the oath to serve in her new position during proceedings of the 163rd Annual ISMA Convention held Sept. 16-18 in Indianapolis. The convention allows physician delegates from counties around the state to not only elect leaders, but also to set an action agenda for the coming year.
A native of Howe, Dr. Sharp graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine and is board certified in family medicine. In addition to her ISMA membership, she is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, Christian Medical and Dental Association, LaGrange County Community Foundation, and Delta Theta Tau. She also serves on the LaGrange County Health Board.
Since 1849, the ISMA has worked to promote sound health care policy in the public, private and governmental sectors and to support continuing medical education for Indiana doctors. Currently, the ISMA has approximately 7,900 physician members.
