Sharon Sue (Blalock) Carney, 73, West Jordan, Utah, died Thursday, February 27, 2014, at her residence.
She was born June 4, 1940, in Sturgis, Mich., to Dale and Elizabeth (Van Kirk) Blalock.
Living most of her first 26 years in LaGrange, she was queen of the senior prom in high school and first runner-up in the county fair queen contest. She also belonged to the 4-H Club and played saxophone in the LaGrange High School Marching Band. After high school, she finished two years of training to be an x-ray technician. Sue w as a telephone operator and later an x-ray technician at the LaGrange County Hospital. Later she ran her husband’s podiatry office in California, and worked at Cypress Printing and Ensign Books. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She was married March 20, 1960, at the Methodist Church in LaGrange, to Michael F. Carney. He survives.
Also surviving are five children, Danelle Justice, West Jordan, Utah, Julee (Jeff) DeVries, Norwalk, Calif., Stacy Carney, Sun City, Calif., Michael Carney, Anaheim, Calif., and Christopher (Ashley) Carney, West Jordan, Utah; seven grandchildren, Ashley and Ian Justice, Mark (Emily) Carney, Krista and Steven Carney, Aiden and Hugo Carney, and a granddaughter on the way; two brothers, Jack (Penny) Blalock, Ada, Mich., and Eric (Kathy) Blalock, Kalamazoo, Mich., her aunt, Ruth Flagg, Elkhart, Ind.; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Kathy Ann Carney; one grandson, Cameron Frandsen, two brothers, Robert Blalock and Gary Blalock, and two sisters-in-law, Norma Jean (Robert) Blalock and Jean (Jack) Blalock.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in West Jordan, Utah, and 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at the Church of Latter Day Saints in Cypress, Calif.
