Scholarship again offered to former Wolcott Mills student

The Wolcott Mills Parent-Teacher Organization Scholarship Committee is offering a former Wolcott Mills Elementary School student, upon the student’s graduation from Lakeland High School, an opportunity for a scholarship.

The Bulldog Booster Scholarship will have a new outcome this year. Instead of awarding two scholarships, the money will be awarded to only one recipient.

The scholarship was established in March 1996 with the purpose of aiding with the costs of a higher education of Wolcott Mills Elementary School graduates.

To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must be enrolled in a certified or baccalaureate program at an accredited public or private college or university or trade school. The committee will award one non-renewable $500 scholarship to a former student of Wolcott Mills Elementary School. The scholarship money will be given directly to the recipient at the beginning of the second term during their first year of college, university or trade school.

To apply for the scholarship, a student must submit a 500-word essay about growing up in Wolcottville, the student’s goals and a favorite memory of Wolcott Mills Elementary School. No transcript of grades is required with the application.

Deadline for application is 3 p.m. on March 7 at the Lakeland High School Guidance Office. This award will be announced at the Lakeland High School Senior Awards Night.

Applications are available at the Lakeland High School Guidance Office or Wolcott Mills Elementary School.
