Sandra L. Martin, 68, Topeka, died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
She was born May 16, 1945, in Monahans, Texas, to Charles Sr. and Betty J. (Carroll) Glass.
She was a 1963 graduate of Wellsville High School in Wellsville, Ohio, Malone College, Aultman Hospital School of Nursing in Canton, Ohio, and the University of Michigan School of Anesthesia. She worked at Miller’s Merry Manor of LaGrange, LaGrange County EMS, and for Dr. Evan Thompson for 10 years. She was a 4-H leader and advisor for the Topeka Happy Workers and Mini Helpers 4-H Clubs in LaGrange County for 25 years. She also volunteered in day surgery and made baby hats at IU Health Goshen Hospital for three years. She was an active member of Maple Grove Church in Topeka.
She was married July 11, 1970 to Dallas L. Martin. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Sharon (Keith) Shiltz, LaGrange, and Christina (Peter) Carpenter, Goshen; one son, Kenneth (Tina) Martin, LaGrange; six grandchildren, Nicole and Ashley Miller, Clark and Conner Carpenter, and Audrianna and Derrick Martin; and one brother, Charles W. (Nancy) Glass Jr., Jamestown, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law, Monroe Junior Martin.
Funeral service was held Monday, August 5, at Maple Grove Church in Topeka with Pastor Barry St. Clair officiating.
Burial is in Maple Grove Cemetery, Topeka.
