The LaGrange Rotary will host its 53rd Annual Fish Fry on Wednesday, June 12, in the Lakeland Middle School cafeteria.
This is one of the club’s major fundraising events and the net proceeds will be used for projects locally, nationally, and internationally. Rotary's motto is “Service Above Self.”
Past projects include a new roof for the Clothes and Food Basket, support for the town park, programs for sponsoring inbound and outbound exchange students, aid for Hurricane Katrina victims, plus support for many local activities.
The more the public supports this event, the more money will be available to flow back into the community.
The club noted that it apologized for the inconvenience caused by electrical problems last year, resulting in the delay of providing a timely flow of freshly cooked fish. Every effort has been made to ensure that this won’t happen again and hopes the community will continue to support the fish fry.
Rotary clubs are found in 168 countries and have well over a million members. Rotary International has spearheaded the worldwide eradication of polio. As a result of these efforts, many third world countries are now polio free. Complete eradication is the goal and appears to be within reach.
