Roger Lee Mantle, 66, Columbia City, Ind., died Monday, October 22, 2012 at his residence.
He was born June 6, 1946, in Wolf Lake, Noble County, Ind., to Solomon and Blanche D. (Worrick) Mantle.
He was a 1964 graduate of South Whitley High School and lived in Whitley, Noble and LaGrange counties prior to moving to Salt Lake, Utah, where he lived for the past 13 years. He returned to Whitley County on December 26, 2011. He worked for the LaGrange County Highway Department, drove truck for Christman's Milk Haulers in Indiana and also drove a milk truck in Utah. He attended Collamer Christian Church. His memberships included Shriner's Club of Lagrange, Antique Tractor Club and a former member of Lagrange Lion's Club. He enjoyed collecting John Deer tractors.
He was married March 2, 1973, in Huntertown, Ind., to Geneva Moore Hixson. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Joan (Dennis) Tucker, Herriman, Utah; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Hixson, Ft. Wayne, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Emmalou Mantle, Garrett, Ind., and Sue Mantle, Columbia City, Ind.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Kenneth Hixson.
Visitation is 4-7:30 p.m. Friday, October 26, at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home in Columbia City, Ind.
Services will be 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 26, at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home in Columbia City, Ind., with Pastor David Wagner officiating. The family has requested all guests dress casually for the funeral.
Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery.
