Robert Trowbridge

Robert Lee Trowbridge, 84, Ligonier, Ind., died Friday, November 10, 2017, as a result of a traffic accident west of Topeka.

    He was born November 14, 1932, in Orange Township, Noble County, to Bert and Hazel (Acker) Trowbridge.

    He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He was a truck driver and member of Kendallville VFW Post 2749 and Ligonier American Legion Post 243.

    He was married April 21, 1956, in Angola, Ind., to Mary Ellen Johnston. She preceded him in death on July 5, 2016.

    Surviving are two daughters, Bobbie (Randy) Chidister, South Bend, Ind., and Linda (Jim) Sedlacek, Elkhart; two sons, Dale Trowbridge, Ligonier, Ind., and Joseph (Judy) Trowbridge, Albion, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Casey Slone, Ashley Slone, Justin Ray, Heather Smith, Jennifer Levens, Shaun Trowbridge, Eithan Trowbridge, and Christopher Trowbridge; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Emma Linville-Slessman, Kendallville, Ind., and Gloria (Bob) Lash, Huntertown, Ind.; and two brothers, Walter (Patricia) Trowbridge, Kendallville, Ind., and Duane (Sheryl) Trowbridge, Leo, Ind.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Robert Trowbridge Jr., and one brother, Lowell Trowbridge.

    Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, at Young Family Funeral Home Kendallville Chapel.

    Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, at Young Family Funeral Home Kendallville Chapel with Pastor Mark Wood officiating.
    Burial with Honor Guard services by Kendallville VFW Post 2749, Rome City American Legion Post 381, Kendallville American Legion Post 86, Ligonier American Legion Post 243, and active duty members of the U.S. Army will be in Sweet Cemetery.

    Memorials may be directed to West Noble American Legion Post 243.
