Richard S. Keck Sr., 81, Wolcottville, died Thursday, October 11, 2012 at I.U. Medical Center in Indianapolis.
He was born July 17, 1931, in Noble County, to Ralph Sr. and Ruth (Walburn) Keck.
Living all his life in the area, he retired in 1994 after 20 years with Dometic in LaGrange. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and 50-year member of LaGrange American Legion Post 215.
He was married April 11, 1969, in Clintwood, Virg., to Barbara Ann Lazar. She preceded him in death on April 17, 2004.
Surviving are four daughters, Sonya “Missy” (James) Sykes, Wolcottville, Judy (Phil) Burlew, Mongo, Dianna Smith, Washington, and Ramona (Jerry) Hunter, Kendallville; two sons, Gary Edward (Sandy) Keck, Orland, and Richard S. (Sherry) Keck Jr., Wolcottville; two nieces he raised, Terri Stogner, North Carolina, and Shelia (Paul Jr.) Randol, Wolcottville; two nephews he raised, Walter (Brenda) Stogner, Ohio, and Steve Evans, LaGrange; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis (Bill) Vanderpool, Wolcottville, and Helen Baird, Kendallville; and three brothers, Jay (Linda) Keck, Wolcottville, Wayne Keck, Wolcottville, and Larry (Nell) Keck, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Derek Sheldon Keck and Gary E. “Eddie” Keck Jr.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, October 15, at Young Family Funeral Home Wolcottville Chapel.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, at Young Family Funeral Home Wolcottville Chapel with Reverend James Tews officiating.
Burial with military rites by LaGrange American Legion Post 215 and active duty members of the U.S. Air Force will be in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.
Memorials may be directed to the Messiah Lutheran Church Building Fund.
