Rhonda Bartlett is the LaGrange County Community Foundation “Heart of Gold” award recipient for 2011. She designated the $750 she received as the award winner for the Mongo Community Development Association.
Bartlett, who is secretary of the Mongo association, participated in the 2011 Mongoquinong Park programs as director of games on Wednesdays, the Children’s Lunch Program by the Prairie Heights School District, and served as wellness chairman throughout the year. She also wrote and applied for all the association’s grant applications.
Other association activities benefitted by Bartlett’s dedicated participation this year were: a toboggan outing at Pokagon State Park, REMC grant for summer park youth activities, park opening day youth program on bike safety and a bike helmet for each child, Children’s Lunch Feeding Program with Mongo Fire Department fire safety program and REMC electrical safety program, annual Chinese auction, new storage shed and two new trees planted, Pigeon RiverFest, LaGrange County Corn School float, Halloween party at the park with hay rides and a haunted house at the Haskins Farm Market, park fencing for children’s safety, and the upcoming Christmas party at 6 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 16.
