County commissioners approved, upon unanimous recommendation from the LaGrange County Plan Commission, to rezone 20.93 acres on SR 120 from B-3 to I-2. This re-zone will allow the sale of the property to MJKR Properties and the use to change from a woodworking shop to a manufacturing plant that will house E-Z Freeze.
E-Z Freeze manufactures deep freezes that operate on natural or propane gas. The 55,000 sq. ft. building is currently owned by Riegsecker Woodworking and is located at 5660 North SR 5.
E-Z Freeze is currently located on CR 850W and is expected to move ahead with the purchase of this facility and the move of their manufacturing plant to this location in the near future.
Commissioners also approved four plats Monday. Plats for Donald Curtis and Daniel and Edna Lehman will split residential units off of farm acreage. A two-lot subdivision for Ballines Subdivision will split off an existing residence and will also provide an additional building lot. A two-lot subdivision was approved for Heron Creek Golf Course. The lots are near the entrance to the golf course and will face an access road to the County Farm Cemetery. This access road will become a county road.
Commissioners received “Statements of Salaries and Wages” for 2015 from county elected officials and department heads covering all county employees at Monday’s meeting. Most departments requested a 3 percent increase, according to County Auditor Kay Myers. Commissioners took the requests under advisement and will be making their recommendation on wages to the county council later this summer.
County Clerk Bonnie Brown was given approval to purchase 10 replacement file cabinets for her office. The cabinets will cost $644 each and money for the purchase will come from the clerk’s perpetual fund.
