Reuben D. Bontrager, 73, Ligonier, died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at his residence.
He was born December 17, 1940 in LaGrange County, to Daniel J. and Mary (Bontrager) Bontrager. On June 7, 1962 in LaGrange County he married Marietta Troyer, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are two daughters, Ruth Ann (Ernest) Miller of Topeka, Lorene (Ernie) Eash of Wolcottville; six sons, David R. (Mary Kathryn) Bontrager of Rome City, Daniel Jay (Cristina) Bontrager of Topeka, Lavern (Katie) Bontrager of Wolcottville, William (Lena) Bontrager of Shipshewana, Harley (Loranna) Bontrager of Topeka, Freeman (Loretta) Bontrager of Ligonier; 48 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; sister, Wilma (Olen) Bontrager of Topeka; three brothers, Samuel (Wilma) Bontrager, Joseph Bontrager and Mervin (Carolyn) Bontrager all of Wolcottville. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a minister in the Old Order Amish Church being ordained in 1975 and a retired farmer. Visitation will be after 1:00 pm on Sunday August 3, and all day Monday, August 4, at the family residence, 10330 N. 250 W. Ligonier. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Tuesday August 5, also at the family residence. Services will be conducted by Perry Hochstetler and the Home Ministers. Burial will be in Clearspring Cemetery, Topeka. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, is handling arrangements.
