R. Craig Lewis, 78, LaGrange, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Miller’s Merry Manor of LaGrange.
He was born May 12, 1934, in Kendallville, to Burton D. and Kathryne P. (Perkins) Lewis.
Living all his life in LaGrange County, he was a farmer and raised registered Brown Swiss cattle, hogs and sheep. He was a graduate of Mongo High School and Purdue University and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of the Stroh Lions Club and Stroh Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon. He was a LaGrange County 4-H supporter and past president of the Purdue Ag Alumni.
He was married June 14, 1958 to Marilyn E. Brouwer. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Karen Garman and Paul Krueger, Grayslake, Ill.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian R. and Debbie Lewis, LaGrange, and Daren J. and Rachel Lewis, Garrett; eight grandchildren, Stephen Garman, Brandon Garman, Erica Barrows, Ryan Lewis, Riley Lewis, Rene Lewis, Nathaniel Lewis and Jacob Johnston; and one sister, Diann Smith, Crete, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Kevin A. Lewis.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, January 10, at Stroh Church of Christ.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 11, at Stroh Church of Christ with Pastor Mike Hamm officiating.
Burial will be in East Springfield Cemetery, rural LaGrange.
