Public meetings on grant for community center set


LaGrangeCountywill be holding two public hearings on May 24 in the LaGrange County Public Library, at 1 and 6 p.m., as it prepares to request a State Community Development Block Grant. Funds from the grant are for a community development project, listed as a community center in the announcement.

The two public hearings will provide the public an opportunity to give their views on the proposed project.

According to the announcement, the county is seeking a grant of $400,000. An estimated $555,743 in non-grant funds is projected to be expended by the county, with funds reportedly to come from the LaGrange County Riverboat Fund, LCYC (LaGrange Communities Youth Center) funds and philanthropic funds.

Written comments will be accepted until May 21, and can be submitted to LaGrange County, Att: Kay Myers, 114 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, IN 46761.

Information on the project will be available prior to the meetings at LCYC, 105 N. Detroit St. in LaGrange, starting May 14.
