Public hearings on the 2013 budget for LaGrange County will be held Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 10 and 11. The sessions will start at 8:30 a.m. each day.
Superior Court Judge George Brown will be on the agenda first, followed by the building department, sheriff, E-911 communications, health department, assessor and information technology.
After a break (about 9:40 a.m.) budgets for GIS, emergency management, coroner, EMS, clerk of courts and courthouse maintenance will be heard before a second morning break at about 10:40 a.m.
The surveyor, highway department, treasurer, recorder, extension service and county council budgets will then be addressed before the noon break for lunch.
At 1 p.m. commissioners will be on hand to explain their budgets followed by soil and water conservation, redevelopment commission with budgets for the various county T.I.F. districts, the EDIT board, the public defender board, veteran’s service officer, and weights and measures.
After a final break at about 2 p.m., council members will meet again to hear committee reports, approve minutes and legal claims, review additional appropriations and transfers within 2012 budgets.
Tuesday morning will start with the circuit court, parks and recreation department, prosecuting attorney and county plan commission. Council will review budgets of other units of government, issue a non-binding review finding, and look at a number of other budgets that do not have an effect on tax rates.
An executive session of the council, county commissioners, and county health board has been set for 11 a.m. Tuesday to discuss litigation that has been filed against the health board.
