Prairie Heights lost all four of its games in a varsity softball tournament hosted by Mishawaka this past Friday and Saturday.
The Lady Panthers were beaten 12-2 by Mishawaka in the first round of the tourney. Shawna Carbone went 2-3 with an RBI triple. Rebekah Frey, Samantha Fish, Kayla Feeney and Jordan Engel-Walworth also had hits.
Heights met NECC rival Fairfield in the second game, dropping a 6-1 decision to the Lady Falcons. Feeney’s single in the third plated Taryn Neff for the Lady Panthers’ lone run.
Neff also did the pitching. She allowed seven hits, walked three and struckout one.
In the third round Saturday morning, Prairie Heights squared off against Class 3A No. 1 Mishawaka Marian and fell by a score of 7-1. Carbone singled home Feeney with the Lady Panther run in the top of the seventh. Feeney had two hits.
Prairie Heights met Niles (Michigan) in the fifth-place game Saturday afternoon. After taking a 3-2 lead in the first inning, the Lady Panthers were out scored, 11-4 the rest of the way and dropped a 13-7 decision.
Carbone topped the Heights hitting attack with three singles. Frey and Engel-Walworth each had two hits, while Neff drilled a two-run double.
