PrairieHeightsrallied to defeat Westview, 4-3 in NECC softball action last Thursday night in Brushy Prairie.
The visiting Lady Warriors took a 3-1 lead with two runs in the fourth inning. Michelle Mowery plated Hannah Witham with a ground out, while Amber Roth singled home Sam Pfenning, who had sent Witham to second with her own safety.
The Westview lead lasted just one inning, however, as the Lady Panthers tied the game at 3-3 with a pair of markers in the fifth. Samantha Fish began the Heights rally with a single, while back-to-back Lady Warrior errors would score both Fish and Jordan Engel-Walworth.
Taylor Combs, who had relieved Lady Panther starter Shawna Carbone in the fifth, held the Lady Warriors scoreless in the sixth. In the bottom of the frame, Taryn Terry reached on an error after two were out and came around to score the game-winning run on a single by Fish.
Combs completed her stellar relief effort and earned the win by retiring the Lady Warriors in order in the seventh. Combs fanned one and walked one in three frames of work.
Fish finished the contest with three hits. Kara Gunthorp added two to the Heights ledger.
Roth, Pfenning and Kaylene Kauffman all had two hits for Westview. Kayla Yoder ripped a double.
