A fast start and a strong finish helped boost Prairie Heights to a 28-6 NECC football victory at West Noble last Friday evening.
The Panthers raced to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on the strength of two Bobby Blum touchdown runs. Blum rambled 20 yards on his initial scoring jaunt after taking the opening kickoff back deep into West Noble territory.
Later in the opening stanza, following an exchange of fumbles near midfield, Blum darted through the Charger defense on a 59-yard sprint to the end zone. His conversion run capped the score.
West Noble closed the gap to 14-6 on a one-yard touchdown plunge by Erik Mawhorter in the third period. But the Panthers sealed their victory in the final frame on a 12-yard scoring jaunt by Kyler West and a 25-yard interception return for a score by Levi Tuckerman.
Prairie Heights, now 3-4 in the NECC and 3-5 overall, entertains Eastside this Friday night at Hubert Cline Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
