Prairie Heights went 2-2 in varsity softball action over the weekend, moving its season record to 7-12.
The Lady Panthers began their busy stretch last Thursday by edging NECC rival Fairfield, 5-4. Brennica Smith lined two hits and drove in two runs to pace Heights at the plate. Taylor Combs and Samantha Fish each contributed two hits, and Jordan Engel-Walworth cracked a two-run single.
Shawna Carbone held Fairfield to four hits, walked three and struckout three in picking up the pitching win.
Prairie Heights traveled to Lakewood Park Friday evening. Mikelia Boroff cracked a three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to give the hosts a 6-4 comeback victory.
Kayla Feeney socked a two-run homer for the Lady Panthers. Taryn Neff had two hits and an RBI.
Boroff fanned 13 and walked one to earn the pitching win. Neff took the loss.
Coach Cheryl Hamlin’s team split a doubleheader with Fort Wayne Luers Saturday in the Summit City.
The Lady Knights scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to win the opener, 2-1. Carbone, Fish, Feeney and Engel-Walworth had the Lady Panther hits off winning hurler Darby McFann, who whiffed eight. Carbone allowed seven hits, walked one and struckout seven in absorbing the loss.
A seven-run third inning propelled Prairie Heights to an 11-1 romp in the nightcap. Feeney plated three runs with a home run and a double. Rebekah Frey knocked in three runs with a pair of singles, Fish smacked a two-run double, Combs had three hits and Carbone legged out a double.
Neff garnered the pitching win, scattering five hits and striking out four in five innings.
