Prairie Heights Girls Basketball Kicks Off Season

The Prairie Heights varsity girls basketball team tipped off its 2011-12 campaign in grand style this past weekend by slamming two foes.

Last Thursday, the Lady Panthers cruised past visiting Hamilton, 51-13 in NECC action. Shawna Carbone swished 13 of her team-best 14 points in the first half, sparking Heights to a 30-5 lead at the intermission.  

Logan Penick and Tianna Terry each tossed in 10 points for the Lady Panthers. Terry also collected seven assists and six steals, while Penick added six steals and four helpers to her ledger.

Lyndsey Stoy’s five markers paced the Lady Marines.

Coach Kevin Frey’s squad traveled to Elkhart Christian Saturday night and came home with a 72-22 triumph.

Terry topped all scorers with 21 points, including 13 in the opening quarter. Terry also delivered six assists.

Carbone and Kayla Feeney each produced 16 points for the winners. Carbone snared a team-high eight rebounds as well.
