A new water well is nearing completion for the Prairie Heights School District, and should be tested and ready to use well before school starts in August.
The Prairie Heights School Board took a tour of the project following their meeting Monday evening.
The new eight-inch well at the high school will supply the entire campus with water. A supply line is being run from the high school well to the elementary school. “That’s our best water,” according to Superintendent Alan Middleton.
The district will abandon the wells at the elementary school.
Middleton noted that the issues that affected the school’s water supply last year were from infrastructure, not the wells themselves, and that those issues have been resolved.
The district will be able to test the new water supply within a few days and certify the well before school starts.
Classes at Prairie Heights begin on Aug. 21.
