Prairie Heights built a 21-7 lead after one period, then held on to defeat Central Noble, 65-60 in NECC boys basketball play Saturday night in Brushy Prairie.
The Panthers took a 34-20 edge into the halftime break and were in front by 15 (50-35) going into the fourth stanza. Central Noble put together a 25-15 surge in the final frame, but its rally fell five points shy.
Jacob Heller tallied 16 points, snared six rebounds and dished out 10 assists to spark the Prairie Heights attack. Zach Shepard chipped in 11 points and five boards, while Spencer Hess produced five points.
Central Noble’s Alex Vice led all scorers with 21 points. Vice also collected six caroms and four steals.
Connor McCoy and Brock Noe also tallied double digits for the Cougars, with McCoy sinking 13 points and Noe 10.
The victory leveled the Panthers’ overall season record at 9-9 and improved their NECC mark to 4-3.
