Prairie Heights and Fort Wayne Luers split a varsity softball twin-bill Saturday.
Luers took advantage of seven Lady Panther errors in forging a 4-1 victory in the first game. Brittanie Jernigan’s double brought home Tailor Vanwagner with the lone Heights run.
Shawna Carbone pitched well in defeat for the Lady Panthers. Carbone gave up just four hits, did not walk a batter and struckout 13.
Danielle Engel’s three hits and five RBI sparked Prairie Heights to a 16-6 triumph in the nightcap. Carbone ripped a pair of doubles and drove in two runs. Emily German had two hits and two RBI, Alex Messer and Brennica Smith each lined RBI singles, and Vanwagner had two hits.
Engel also earned the pitching win, walking three and striking out seven.
