LaGrange American Legion Unit 215 Auxiliary will be selling poppies Friday and Saturday, May 16 and 17, at Miller’s Super Valu in LaGrange and Farmers State Bank in Stroh to help Indiana veterans.
All proceeds will be given to the Ft. Wayne VA Hospital and the Indiana Veteran’s Home in Lafayette.
The poppy program is the oldest and most widely recognized program that offers numerous benefits to veterans and the community.
Hospitalized veterans make the poppies, which enables them to earn a small wage, supplementing their income. The physical and mental activities give many of the veterans therapeutic benefits.
One hundred percent of donations is used to assist and support veterans and their families.
The poppy also reminds the community of the past sacrifices and continuing needs of veterans. The poppy is worn and used by Auxiliary members to honor the men and women who served and died for their country in all wars.
